COMMISSIONING A BESPOKE PIECE OF JEWELRY
Whether you are looking for a unique engagement ring, a one-of-a-kind statement piece or simply a variation on one of the designs from our collection, our bespoke jewelry services provide the perfect opportunity to bring your jewelry dreams to life!
Our production team, headed by our Founder and Creative Director, Briony works closely with our clients and takes pleasure in involving you throughout the design and creation process to ensure the final piece is exactly what you have been dreaming of.
Step 1
STARTING THE BESPOKE PROCESS
An initial meeting takes place with Briony - whether in person or a virtual session via Zoom - as a time to discuss the bespoke piece you have in mind. Often during this appointment, Briony and the client explore any materials, colors, and other imagery that can lend a taste of the look and tone of what you have in mind. We find it particularly helpful for the client to send us any pictures that strike you as being aligned with what you envision, be it a photo of a dress in a color you’re particularly taken with or a stained glass panel with a pattern that speaks to you… All of these images give Briony and the design team a better feel for who you are, what your taste is and what design aesthetics you are drawn to. By the end of this initial consultation, Briony and the production team will have a relatively cohesive idea of the direction the bespoke piece will be headed. Following our brainstorming session with the client, we get to work on the designs for your piece!
Step 2
REFINING THE DESIGN
The next step is to refine our ideas for your design into a series of renderings from which you can choose. You will be presented with three to five sketches and computer renderings, all incorporating variations on the piece you have envisioned. You will be closely involved throughout this process and the designs may evolve through several iterations before the final design is reached. If you are based outside of New York, we will email sketches and photographs to guide you through the design process in addition to meeting with you via virtual consultations. We work with clients around the world in this way.
Step 3
SOURCING & CREATION
Should your piece include diamonds or other colored gemstones, it is at this point that final stone selection occurs. We source our diamonds and gemstones from the world’s top suppliers and will pre-select an assortment of stones that best suite the design and budget of your piece. Color is inherently extremely subjective so it is of utmost importance to us that you love the final gemstones we use in your piece just as much as we do!
Once the final design and any diamonds or gemstones have been selected, we often have a wax or metal model of the actual piece for you to see, touch and try on, which ensures you have an accurate portrayal of the scale of the piece ahead of final production. When production is ready to begin, we will take a non-refundable deposit (50% unless otherwise agreed upon) and then our jewelers get to work making magic happen!
STEP 4
SEEING YOUR IDEAS COME TO LIFE
Seeing a bespoke design come to life is exciting – the jewelry-making process never loses it’s magic, even for us after all this time! If you would like to see your bespoke piece of jewelry in progress, you are welcome to contact us any time for progress photos and videos. Given that every Briony Raymond Bespoke piece is made entirely by hand by our team of master jewelers at our New York atelier, please allow 8-10 weeks for a custom order although of course rush orders can be accommodated on a case by case basis. We love nothing more than making your jewelry dreams a reality!
